tie your hair back, Dax is turning TWO!!

I'm not sure what took me so long to post this, but better late than never, right?

I finally jumped on the foldover elastic hair tie bandwagon. But, in true Andrea style, refused to buy a pre-made five pack when I could buy yards of elastic for around the same cost and then make a ton of them.  So that's what I did! They are super easy to cut and tie, I learned that 9" is the best to have it tie your ponytail 3 times. And I prefer the bow-tie look as opposed to the knotted look that is so popular, that way they look cute on your wrist while not keeping your hair back. I picked 15 colors and got 2 yards of each for about $20.  I love them even more because they don't leave as harsh of a 'ponytail bump' as the olden style hair ties.

I wanted to celebrate Dax's birthday by thanking the gals at his school. And just like the scarves I made for Christmas I figured I very well couldn't thank the 6 or so teachers he has had this year without thanking the 8 or so he randomly comes in contact with or who may become his teacher this next year. This was an easy project for me, and of course I am
very proud of the outcome.

"tie your hair back, Dax is turning two!"

I used construction paper and let Dax paint/blot it to cut up and glue on cardstock.

He also paint/blotted the box.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

randomness...

I thought I'd go thru my past pics and share all the random things I've made over the last couple of years...

Since it's the first day of cardinal (pre-season) football, I must start off with the dress I made Stella to celebrate the occasion!  And yes, that's a tutu on the back.

dog harnesses for Stella and other small dogs.

I hand painted glasses from the $1 store for my sister's bachelorette party favors.  Pink is her favorite color!

The headboard in our guest room and matching pillows.  Made with an old duvet cover, foam batting stapled to a piece of plywood when I was 7 months pregnant.

Stella's super soft and cozy bed.

I re-covered our patio furniture pillows.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a picture of them finished on the furniture.

sugar hand scrub in baby food jars and shea butter/coconut oil lippy for party favors for my sister's baby shower.

oatmeal scrubber shower bags.

pepperminty lippy in an upcycled altoids tin.

happy friday! thanks for stopping by. :)

pimento cheese dip

shredded medium cheddar cheese. roasted red peppers (flame roasted on the grill or the flame on a gas grill)

chop the red peppers

mix chopped red peppers with cheese, a couple tablespoons of mayo and tobasco to taste and keep in the fridge. this dip is best when made at least 24 hours in advance. enjoy at room temp with pita chips.

make sure to share with everyone or you'll end up eating it all yourself.

baby baby baby!

My husband's best friend is expecting a little girl in April. His wife's baby shower was Saturday. I sure chomped at the opportunity to sew up some more pink stuff! (After making my sister's entire bedding set in one month back in September I seriously thought that pink ruffles would be the death of me.) Well, I'm still here, so I made the new baby girl and big blanket that would last her as long as my sewing will last, (hopefully thru college?) 2 boppy covers, 2 pacifier holders, a tag blankie and 2 boobie bags (as I call them) which are microwaveable heating bags for a milk mama. I packaged it up in a baby bath and put one of the covers on the new boppy pillow. I am very proud of how it all came together and hope she doesn't think I pushed too much handmade stuff on her.

I also made the little pink feather hair pin I wore (which was lost in all the fun on Saturday.)

The last pic is my niece's bedding that I made in September which included a square-sewn blanket with satin pink ruffles, a satin bedskirt with princess tulle underneath, 3 fitted sheets, 2 boppy pillow covers, a matching pillow for her glider chair and pink ruffled curtain sweepers. (see why I didn't want to work with pink for a while?)

This is a blanket I made for my friend's baby boy back in October out of some Marimekko material I had liked and purchased ample amounts of, but did not use for Dax's nursery.

This was the first blanket I made!  For my baby Dax.  I didn't plan on making him one, but I had scraps and extra material from the 3 fitted sheets, the bed-skirt, curtains & boppy pillows that I had planned on making.  (I have a problem, and it's buying TOO much fabric.)  The blanket has held up fine, but will definitely not last until college nor is it big enough to keep him warm until then.  I'll have to fix it in a few places that have frayed since this was my first time sewing patches together.  I learned my lesson for my sister's patch blanket and her's came out a TON nicer.

AAAANNNNND, here is the lot of pacifier holders I made.  Dax needed a new one, so I thought I'd make the little ladies a couple also.

That's all for show and tell Tuesday.. I wish you a beautiful day!

Hey Everyone, Come See What I Made!

Hi, my name is AndrĂ«a and I am new (again) to blogging.  In this blog I intend to post pics of all the things I create & make.  I love to sew and craft and knit and re-use items you might normally throw away and basically just be all around creative with this so-called-brain of mine.  I get excited when I find something in stores that I believe I can make.  Sometimes they come out better, and sometimes (just sometimes) I am truly embarrassed that I wasted any time on it at all.

In the pic below, I made 2 things... my awesome little boy, Dax and the infinity/circle scarf I am wearing.

I actually made fifty-five (count 'em) of these for gifts this past xmas.. all because I wanted a couple for myself.  They were a hit with all the gals at Dax's school, and that made all my time spent on them completely worth it.

I don't plan on making long posts, just little blurbs with some pics of my creations let's say, once a week... yea, I can do once a week!

Thanks for dropping by, and Happy Friday!! <3
